White team downs Maroon 28-10
Review By: David Haynes
The annual Maroon vs. White game was held yesterday at Goldsmith Stadium. It pits the first team and second team squads of offense/defense against one another.
The White team won 28-10. There were several things to be impressed about from what I saw…
Here are my notes: (I apologize for only stating player numbers, unsure on names.)
- The Farmer offensive line on the 1st and even 2nd team is pretty big! Especially the right side of the 1st team’s line.
- The 1st team Farmer defensive line looks pretty stout which seems to be anchored by #46. He had great size and looked very athletic and seemed to have a head full of steam the entire night putting pressure on the QB constantly. I can’t wait to see how he looks after some summer training!
- The quarterback for the 2nd team offense, #15 (Snaslowsky?) showed GREAT poise under pressure and has a gun for an arm. He probably impressed me the most. He has good size and although he doesn’t have the speed or elusiveness of Dotson, he is fairly good with his feet and can make a defender miss a tackle when needed. He also seemed to know when something wasn’t there and got rid of the ball.
- The 1st team Farmer defensive backs had good coverage overall. Deflecting many passes and having an interception or two.
- Rafael Cotton, the SOPH. TE from last year had a long reception and run. He seems to have gotten a bit more athletic and quicker which is promising. He has good hands.
- Will Atterberry, the punter had about a 60 yard punt that fell dead on about the one inch line. He did great all night.
- Extra points were spot on as well.
Well, those are my notes and I’m anxious to see how this team will shape up and look after the summer.
In other news; we’ll have something very special for Farmer fans coming this fall so stay tuned. Details will be coming soon.
Further details to follow in the coming months!
