Lewisville vs. Southlake Carroll (Week 10)
Preview By: David Haynes
The Lewisville Fighting Farmers travel to Southlake Carroll tonight to take on the Dragons in their final game of the year. The Farmers are 2-7 and will not make the
playoffs but are looking for their first district win for one final time.
Lewisville played very well against Coppell last week in its second consecutive close loss. They actually lead for a good portion of the game but a few mistakes cost them.
Southlake Carroll has had the injury bug this year in taking out their starting quarterback Kyle Padron but their backup QB David Piland has proved very capable in his absence.
Piland is 47-85-3 with 623 yards passing and has racked up 338 yards rushing on 61 attempts as well. RB Tommy Avers leads the way rushing with 715 yards on 97 carries. He’s
small but very quick so that might give the Farmer defense some trouble. Their leading receivers are Josh Rake with 538 yards and 8 touchdowns and Ryan Walker with 531 yards
and 6 touchdowns. They have three other players with over 100 yards receiving on the year as well.
One possible bonus for the Farmers against Southlake is that the Dragon defense is suspect against the run and Lewisville has had success in running the ball the past few weeks.
If the Farmers can keep the possessions limited and the Dragon offense off the field then they have a good chance at the upset but I’m not sure I see that happening since
Southlake will be at home and wanting to make a statement before entering the playoffs.
Prediction: Southlake Carroll 31, Lewisville 17
